Note: "Filming on Good Luck Charlie: The Movie" has been completed.
Disney Channel and Salty Pictures are in production on the Disney Channel Original Movie "Good Luck Charlie: The Movie". This is a working title, and the movie's release name has not been announced as of April 1, 2011. Casting for co-stars and supporting roles is underway in Los Angeles, and additional casting will take place in Salt Lake City, where the bulk of shooting will take place.
Emmy Award winning Don Schain will produce under the banner of his company "Salty Pictures". Don Schain has produced all three of Disney's "High School Musical" movies, as well as approximately 18 other Disney Channel Original Movies. Schain is also the president of the Motion Picture Association of Utah.
The Disney Channel family/teen sitcom "Good Luck Charlie" reaches across generations and characterizes an evolutionary step that truly embeds the family into Disney's kid-driven family brand. The show capitalizes on the timeless appeal of the family sitcom, but unlike the traditional, adult-focal family sitcoms, "Good Luck Charlie" is told essentially through the eyes and video diary memorandum of the show’s 17-year-old central character, Teddy, played by Bridgit Mendler.
Three time DGA Award winning assistant director Matias Alvarez will co-produce "Good Luck Charlie: The Movie". This will be Alvarez' second job as producer for Disney Channel - he produced "Lemonade Mouth" in 2010. The highly talented Primetime Emmy Award nominated director Arlene Sanford will helm the project from a script written by Geoff Rodkey, who is also a Primetime Emmy Award nominee. Sanford has directed such notable shows as "Desperate Housewives," "Pretty Little Liars," "Grey's Anatomy," and the Disney Company films "I'll Be Home for Christmas," and "Frank McKlusky, C.I." among many many other shows going back to 1985.
The movie's casting director in Los Angeles is auditioning talent for the roles of Amy Duncan's parents. Also several male character actors with strong comedic skills who are 30 - 40ish years of age, any ethnicity. A female high school age teen, any ethnicity, and a 60's aged seemingly normal couple who are actually nutty as fruitcake.
There will be additional casting for smaller roles, extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Principal photography on "Good Luck Charlie: The Movie" will begin late February, 2011 at various locations in Utah.
