Disney Channel casting directors are now holding auditions for a new "Untitled That's So Raven" spinoff series. Daytime Emmy Award nominee Raven-Symoné will reprise her title role of Raven Baxter in the offshoot. On the new show, Raven is a divorced mother of two pre-teen kids (a son and daughter), one of whom has inherited her ability to catch glimpses of the future. The auditions are taking place in Los Angeles, where shooting on the pilot episode will take place in February, 2017.
Executive VP of original programming for Disney Channel, Adam Bonnett recently stated, "Raven's brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel's success around the world. Her performance in That's So Raven is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we're looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family." The original "That's So Raven" was Disney Channel's first multi-camera comedy, and was the highest-rated Disney show among Kids 6-11 and Boys 6-11. After over a decade since it ended, the show has been averaging 1.1 million total viewers in recent midnight airings.
The new show is being executive produced by Raven-Symoné, with Daytime Emmy Award nominees Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff serving as writers and producers. Thomas and Elinoff are creators and executive producers of the hit Disney Channel series "Best Friends Whenever."
